Financially Support Our BIPOC Trainees

What’s New

This Fall, we are launching an exciting new initiative at Art of Living Counseling Center. We will be gathering a diverse population of Story Leaders and training them to go back into their unique communities to facilitate Story Groups. For those of you who have not participated in a story group let me give you a quick description of what these groups are.

About The Training

Story Group curriculum and the group experience help participants to discover and unlock the stories that shaped them into the people they are today. Participants will, among other things, have the opportunity to courageously address long held secrets, learn how past trauma is impacting their current relationships, and learn why they keep repeating the same destructive patterns. Because these groups work primarily with individuals with significant histories of trauma ( physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse, and ranging from victims of sex trafficking to being a part of an oppressed people group), we need well trained facilitators in place to make this happen. This is why I am reaching out to you.

About The Giving Opportunity

During this fall cohort we are taking 35 participants, 17 of these registration spots will be reserved for our BIPOC participants. We will be offering 17 partial to full scholarships to under resourced and brilliant Story BIPOC Leaders so they can experience a high quality professionally run Trauma Focused Narrative Group Training. We are looking to raise $50,000 to help pay for these scholarships. Once this cohort has completed this training, these facilitators will be able to take the skills they have learned and launch Story Groups in their communities and bring healing to those struggling with the symptoms of years of past trauma. I have gathered a team of highly trained coaches to join me this fall to teach, mentor and coach these participants. This cohort I will be joined by Danielle Castillijo, Abby Wong-Heffner, Rebecca Wheeler Walston, and Jenny McGrath. Please see their bios here.
